Students wishing to complement their studies with a Psychology major may opt to complete the single majors psychology courses.

Students hoping to gain professional accreditation as a psychologist are required to complete the Psychology double major (APAC accredited undergraduate sequence), as well as undertake additional study at honours and postgraduate levels.

Psychology is a fascinating and diverse area of study that touches on many aspects of daily life – seeking to answer questions about how and why people behave the way they do. The Psychology in Society major helps you build a scientific understanding of human behaviour and its underlying psychological processes. The major has a particular emphasis on developmental psychology, social psychology, intelligence and personality and abnormal psychology.

In particular, this major looks at the measurement of psychological abilities such as intelligence, how these abilities develop through the life span and on the processes that govern the relationships between people and groups in society.

If you’re hoping to pursue further study at postgraduate level leading to professional accreditation as a psychologist, you should complete the Psychology double major.

The Psychological Science major will provide you with a scientific understanding of our psychological processes and the relationship of these processes to brain function. You’ll develop an understanding of how these psychological processes are affected by ageing, brain damage and disease. If you’re hoping to pursue further study at postgraduate level leading to professional accreditation as a psychologist, you should complete the Psychology double major.

The Psychology double major will help you develop a scientific understanding of human thoughts and behaviours, the psychological processes underlying these and the relationship of these processes to brain function. It is a three-year undergraduate sequence in psychology, awarded accreditation by the Australian Psychology Accreditation Council (APAC).

This course provides extensive training in the application of psychological theories and principles to workplace settings with a view to improving organisational performance and enhancing employee wellbeing.

The course offers training in the following areas: undertaking effective research in organisations; psychological assessment for enhanced personnel selection outcomes; employee training and skill development; implementing organisational change initiatives effectively; improving work design to enhance employee effectiveness, wellbeing, health and safety; applying the principles of human factors to optimise human-system interactions; team development and team work; and effective leadership behaviour.

The course also provides an opportunity to apply your knowledge and skills, under supervision, in organisational consultancy group project.

Industrial and organisational psychology is a specialist area that applies psychological knowledge and skills to workplaces with the aim of improving organisational effectiveness and the quality of work life. Upon completion of this course, you will gain specialised, highly developed skills in assessment, treatment and intervention, and research, required for accreditation and registration.

The Master of Industrial and Organisational Psychology is a two-year full-time psychology course that includes nine coursework units, a research project and 1000 hours of practical placement spread over three different settings.

Industrial and Organisational Psychology is a specialist area that applies psychological knowledge and skills to workplaces with the aim of improving organisational effectiveness and the quality of work life.

The specialty focuses on deriving principles of individual, group and organisational behaviour and applying this knowledge to the solution of problems at work.

The skills developed are in line with the essential core capabilities and attributes required by the Australian Psychology Accreditation Council (APAC) and the Australian Psychological Society’s (APS) College of Organisational Psychologists for postgraduate professional courses.

• Improving work design to enhance employee effectiveness, wellbeing and safety
• Applying principles of human factors to optimise human-system interactions
• Implementing organisational change initiatives effectively
• Undertaking effective research in organisations

If you’re looking to upskill in clinical psychology and you’ve completed a master’s degree or equivalent in clinical neuropsychology and are qualified with the Psychology Board of Australia (PsyBA) this bridging course allows you to do that. You’ll be eligible for endorsement as a clinical psychologist with the PsyBA and the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Board (AHPRA).
