We have got some great updates for you!
Well, the Australian government is all set to reopen borders and welcome international students with accelerated measures starting on 1st of December 2021!
And, guess what? The Morrison Government is bringing flexibility in post-study work rights and Temporary Graduate Route Visa to ensure the rapid return of international students in 2022.
New Visa Settings
- The former and current Temporary Graduate (subclass 485) visa holders who have been unable to travel to Australia as a result of COVID-19 international border restrictions and whose visas expired on or after 1 February 2020 will be able to apply for a replacement visa of the same duration.
- The length of stay on the post-study work rights visa will be increased from 2 to 3 years for Masters by coursework graduates.
- A 2-year Temporary Graduate Visa will be provided for graduates of the Vocational Education and Training (VET) sector.
- The time spent by students or temporary graduates studying offshore will be recognized and counted to qualify for a temporary graduate visa.
Announcing the decision, Minister for Education and Youth Alan Tudge said that “This will help ensure the rapid return of international students.” The Australian Government is ensuring that the students and education providers are given lucid incentives to not get affected from preventing entry into the country earlier.
In addition, over $37 million will be available to support international education providers most affected by COVID-19 which will eventually be targeted to benefit the students.
We hope the afore-mentioned information helps you plan your journey to study in Australia in your favourite universities. The new visa update is hopefully a relief for international students looking forward to studying in Australia.
